English

Exodia

Most likely from Exodus + -ia.

Formed from Exodus + -ia

Ancient Greek ὁδός ‘journey’

Ancient Greek ἔξοδος ‘expedition, procession, departure’

Latin exodus

English Exodus

The story

There is no evident connection between the sense of the components and Exodia himself. The early 2000s German translation of the card name "Exodia the forbidden one" indicates that the translators mistook Exodia as feminine ("Exodia, die Verbotene", which translation still prevails today) because of the evidently feminine ending, whereas in the Spanish translation "Exodia el prohibido" the creature's gender was correctly rendered.

Today it means

name An invincible creature from the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and trading card game which is summoned by assembling its five parts (head, right and left arm, right and left leg), whereby the game is automatically won.

Language periods are conventional ranges, not dates for this word.
