The story

Both Burmese terms are also adjectives meaning "Burmese" (related to Myanmar/Burma, its, people, language, etc). Like the r in the word Burma, the r at the end of Myanmar was not originally pronounced (and is not present in the Burmese term), it is a vowel-lengthening device used by non-rhotic dialects; compare gorm.

Today it means

name A country in Southeast Asia. Official name: Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Capital: Naypyidaw.

Language periods are conventional ranges, not dates for this word.
