The story

The form Sacarauli derives from Σακάραυλοι (Sakárauloi), a name that appears only in Strabo's Geographica. It is generally considered to have originated as a scribal corruption of the original phrase Σακαραῦκαι καὶ Αὐγαλοί (Sakaraûkai kaì Augaloí, “Sacaraucae and Augali”).

Today it means

name An ancient Saka/Scythian tribe from Central Asia, known to have migrated into Bactria and later into Gandhara.
